ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Brayden Turner and I am a Chicago actor that got my start in small rural theatre productions in Baraboo, WI. I moved to Chicago to pursue a theatre & social-justice-focused liberal arts education at Loyola University Chicago. During the pandemic, I focused my time to hone from professional skill set of management, leadership, and administration, and have pusued full-time positions in finance, property management, and higher education. I bring superb professionalism and charaismatic energy to every audition room, set, and self-tape. I am inspired by the community of theatre and film. In every project, audition, workshop, I aim to meet at least three new artists to gain inspiraiton from and build connections.

I am seeking to be a full-time working actor in theatre, TV, and film in the Chicago entertainment industry. I am excited to gain my union status in AEA and SAG, and am flexible in working in all locations of entertainment: NYC, LA, and Atlanta.

The stories I am most pulled to are: political dramas, LGBTQ+ works, and stories of characters overcoming generational trama. These 3 types of work, to me, are real life and ever-pressing matters. My belief is that all art reflects life. While we can entertain, we can as well critque the world around us and advocate for equality through theatre and film.

At age 12, my acting journey began. I am a strong baritone with a polished falsetto. My theatre training has been an accumulation of 10+ years of community theatre, voice lessons, workshops, and collegiate training.

Dream roles:

  • Bobby from Company
  • Melchior from Spring Awakening
  • Kurt/Gram from Heathers

Favorite Composers:

  • Sondheim
  • Bernstein
  • Duncan Sheik

My facination about film is that the camera is your audience of one. That intimacy and vulnerability of acting for the camera is thrilling.

After taking film acting classes at acting studio Chicago, I feel confident behind the camera.

Dream roles:

  • A server on The Bear
  • A Christopher Nolan villian
  • Mike Faist's doubles partner in Challengers 2

Favorite movies:

  • Interstellar
  • Brokeback Mountain
  • A Bug's Life

The most fulfilling artistic experience for me was my directing capstone. Imagining an artistic idea (staging of a musical, an original short film) to workshopping the idea in your head nonstop, to producing the idea in person, and seeing audiences react to your creative voice, is exciting.

This is a part of my brain and soul I am deeply inspired to pursue, in addition to my acting career. Directing and producing uses every bone in my body.

Dream musicals/plays to direct:

  • Company
  • Oh, Mary!
  • Mother Courage

CURRENT WORKS

Auditioning and Networking!

I am currently auditioning/submitting for non-equity theatre and non-union film projects as much as possible. I have received many callbacks, most for lead roles, such as Link from Hairspray and Brad from Rocky Horror. I try to attend as many EPAs as I can!

I am attending industry conferences, casting workshops, agency talks, and taking acting classes to further polish my craft and gain new industry connections. I am actively seeking representation and currently in the process of submitting to Chicago agents.
